FreeSpire…
This is in FreeSpire right, they’ve got Firefox, changed it to say Web Browser and have the cheek to change the default search engine to Windows Live Search. This is Windows search on Linux. I’ve never heard anything so silly.
I was absolutely disgusted. This is in FreeSpire – Linspire based Linux running in live mode on my laptop.
But things get worse. They’ve got Ubuntu 7.10, changed all the orangey bits to blue, changed the logo, changed from Gnome to KDE (which doesn’t matter because I like KDE).
Don’t worry though, things get even more worse. I can’t run it in normal graphics mode, so I have to run it in safe mode. Because of this, I get 1204×768 resolution on a screen thats resolution is 1280×800. I go to change it “K” > “Settings” > “Control Center” > “Perhiperals” > “Display” > “Administrator Mode” and the window is so small, I can’t even press the “Apply” button. So thats it. I’m stuck with 1204×768 until I install (which wont happen soon, and if I install it, I can change my X config)…
Thats it. FreeSpire Linux. Visually looks nice (apart from being pixelated), performs okay, and I like it (somewhat).
A new look
Just looking through the themes that WordPress.com offer and quite like this one, it has a “clean” and “fresh” look and feel about it which is what I like in a theme. It was time for a change anyway.
Thanks,
Callum
Windows Live Writer
Hello! I’m actually writing this from the Windows Live Writer program. I like it, it’s got a nice interface (better than Windows Live Messengers) and it works well with it.
As I’m writing this, I’m also waiting for Windows Live Mail to finish installing. Now, I’ve used this app before but I now understand that it supports Gmail, which is now my primary email provider – but I don’t know if it will support Google Apps accounts.
A post from school…
Today I have decided for some unknown reason to make a post from school.
This post is my post from school. If I didn’t go to school today then I wouldn’t have posted from school.
Oh, and my birthday…
As you may be aware, a few days ago it was my birthday.
Mostly I got money, which I’m going to use to buy a desktop PC, since at the moment all I have is laptops. The problem is that this machine would be used for gaming mostly. My favorite game is San Andreas but it’s incompatible with Windows Vista (which most if not all computers come with preinstalled) – I know this because I’ve tried it on my parent’s Vista laptop, and it’s got all random letters and numbers on the screen. I think I will solve this problem by simply installing Windows XP
And chocolate, which surprisingly I haven’t ate already – hmmm… tasty chocolate.
New WordPress Theme…
I’ve been asked by my school to design a WordPress theme for their literacy blog.
You can find the blog here!
The actual theme I designed hasn’t gone live on it just yet, because I’ve not completed it (but nearly have). I’ll post again when it becomes live.
I’m a genius…
Well, not really a genius. It’s my birthday in two days (on Tuesday), but I still have to go to school, depressingly. You know what; I think that it should be law that if it’s your birthday, you deserve the day off, if you’re at school, college, work or university.
Anyway, moving on, AMV Studio Utilities has an amazing 50,489 installations to this date (11th November 2007), this is only from C|NET Download.com, and out of the nine reviews, only one gave it a minimum of three stars, the rest is either four or five starts (and a positive comment). Because of how excellent these nice people thought my software was, me, the developer, I, think that this makes me a genius (refer to the first sentence of this blog post before commenting, please)
Thankyou,
Good day,
Callum
Sorry for the delay!
I guess that updating this thing seems to be a lot more time-intensive than it was when it was on my server (by that I’m not refering to my servers speeds!!!).
Anyway, its my birthday in exactly one week from now!
Lots going on…
Since my last proper post on 16 September, lots of stuff has happened…
Virus, again!
Yes, only after reformatting my computer I found myself reformatting it again! This was because the virus I caught spread to all Windows XP machines on the network (good job it didn’t affect Windows Vista machines, otherwise not only my parents would be infected but the neighbors too…). Anyway thats all sorted now.
Reformat, again!
Same style subheader as the previous. I turned my computer on. Avast wanted me to update and reboot, so I did. Only to then find when I log back on to my computer, as soon as the “Loading your personal settings…” screen disappears, the “Closing your network connections…” screen appears, and takes me back to the logon screen. I must have tried logging on fifty times, but no luck. This meant another reformat.
teen4m, coming along nicely…
Because teen4m hasn’t been release yet, I can’t expose too much information about it, but its coming along nicely to say the least. Lots of word, over 2,000 lines of code and a very web 2.0 theme.
